Vaseline MEN body & face LOTION- Blog #2 (Kleinman, S.)

Vaseline has created a lotion just for men. It is called "Vaseline MEN body & face LOTION." The title definitely emphasizes that this lotion is for men. I say this because MEN and LOTION are the only two words that are in all caps. I wonder why these two words are capitalized? Is it because women typically use lotion more often than men; therefore, Vaseline is trying to draw attention to the fact men now have their own designated lotion? The bottle is appears to be very statuesque and sleek in its shape and form. The color of the bottle is hard to describe. It is almost like a "charcoal" blue. It has hints of lime green and white. I must say, the color scheme is very bold, and so is the slogan. The slogan reads, "MEN body & face LOTION: healthy resilient skin tackles everyday dryness. On the contrary, the other various kinds of lotions generated by Vaseline are encapsulated in bottles with colors ranging from pastel yellows, pastel blues and greens to pinks. On these bottles words such as refreshing, revitalized, vibrant, and infuse are used. This is especially true for Vaseline's Cocoa Butter Range. The slogan reads reads: "Ignite your natural glow." Under key ingredients on the Vaseline website is says, conditioning moisturizers- leave skin smooth and supple. The color of this bottle is completely different than that of the men's lotion. Instead of being bold and sleek, the color on the bottle of the Cocoa Butter Range is rich and warm. Is this saying something about men and women? Men = bold/sleek : Women = rich/warm. Moreover, there aren't any capital letters emphasizing any particular words on the Cocoa Butter Range lotion as there are on the MEN's LOTION. Furthermore, the men's lotion has a very "clean cut" smell. Obviously, this is not the case for the Cocoa Butter Range as it smells like cocoa butter. The other lotions by Vaseline are for the most part "scent free." Although the MEN body & face LOTION was created for men, I decided I wanted to smell "clean cut" too. So, I purchased a bottle for myself. Quite frankly, I am tired of having to smell like vanilla, apple, peony, "scent free," etc. The MEN body & face LOTION can be purchased at Target, any drug store (CVS, Walgreen's, Rite Aid, etc.). It sells for about $7.00 a bottle.
