LG GD910 Watch Phone (Blanca C.)

For all the gadget geeks and technology freaks, finally, the product you've been waiting for! Now James Bond isn't the only one with the spy gadgets. LG has came out with a watch phone and currently has been distributed only in the UK (James Bond, hmm figures). It does seem like it is too big to be a watch and too small to be a phone, but a usable one. It costs roughly $800 and since it is in the UK currently that is 500 euros.

The product has a send key, an end key, and a clear / return key on the right side of the watch. The watch is also has a touch screen. There are many different clock displays, default backgrounds and also personalized settings as does a regular cell phone. Same as the Iphone you can take your finger and drag the screen up, down, left or right, in order to change to a menu screen or any other screen of your choice. Unlike today's advanced cell phones, the watch phone does not have many applications, I would say it is the most basic of a cell phone on your wrist. It only has basic settings, small 80MB memory space for a few songs, ringtones, messaging, contact list, calendar, notepad etc. No camera included! (it is only a watch phone, we are not that far in the future!) The watch phone has a leather strap and water resistant stainless steel. It would probably be a better idea to use this watch phone with a bluetooth device or some kind of ear piece, since you don't want all your conversations on speakerphone. There are no issues with talking with your hand in a relaxed position, (although speaking into our wrists would look kind of cool!) the sound quality is fair. It is pretty much useful as a basic phone. Adding contacts and messaging is a bit difficult for those with thick finger tips.

LG has been making electronics and appliances for over 50 yrs globally. They make mobile phones, T.V.'s, computers, washers, dryers, even refrigerators. Recently they have
introduced new global brand identity: "Stylish design and smart technology, in products that fit our consumer's lives."

I believe someone out there would be interested in buying this product. As technology is getting smaller, unique, and efficient, who wouldn't want the newest tech gadget? It might not be a blackberry or a smartphone, but it is definitely unlike the rest of the phones advertised out there. I chose this product because it reminded of secret agent gadgets in the movies. I see this as someone making their technology dream come true. I have always been in to spy-like gadgets and this one in particular is pretty close to my favorite gadget (without the laser beam).

  1. Hey Blanca,
    This. Was. Awesome.
I'm not sure where you found this, but thank you so much for posting it.
I've done my best to find new and unusual tech to talk about in the blog, but this takes takes the cake in my book :-).
I know that alot of our technology has take cues from Hollywood first - for example flip phones that look alot like the "communicators" they had on the original Star Trek.
But especially with iPhones and Blackberries, which are rapidly catching up with laptop computers... I kind of don't think that the real future will look much like the Hollywood future.
But still, very excited to see a wristwatch phone :-Ding.
